1. Cutting-Edge Pro Audio Interfaces Compatible with Modern DJ Software - Shop Now
A Pro Audio Interface for DJ software, often referred to as a ‘sound card’, provides a minimum of 2 stereo channel outputs and low-latency control.
Less than a decade ago pro audio interfaces were much more prevalent for use with DJ mixing software. There weren’t many DJ controllers on the market yet, and most that were available didn’t come equipped with an audio interface — which forced DJs to use an external USB or Firewire audio interface to connect to their physical DJ mixer or for use with the on-screen virtual DJ mixer.
Today, our DJ software products support over 80 DJ controllers from the top brands. Most of the latest controllers have the audio interface baked in, as well as the DJ mixer itself. This last bit turns some DJs off however. We find many of our users prefer their own physical mixer instead of being force-fed, and there are some that prefer to hit the road as minimalistic as possible and just want to use the on-screen virtual mixer provided in our DEX 3 and RED Mobile 3 platforms.

Pro Audio Interfaces For Use With DJ Software
There may not be as many audio interfaces to choose from today designed for DJs (although there are quite a few audio interfaces designed for studio use, but are typically overkill for DJ software and come with a hefty price-tag), but there are a couple high-quality options that pair perfectly well with PCDJ and provide up-to-date drivers or the latest versions of Windows and OSX.
One of the interfaces is designed for DJs that want to go lite and simply use the on-screen virtual DJ mixer and the other created for use with physical DJ mixers.
Numark DJ|IO 2: Virtual DJ Mixer Support
The Numark DJ|IO 2 USB Audio Interface provides one set of stereo RCA outputs for your main output, and a 1/4 inch jack for your headphones.
Ideal for virtual mixer use, the DJ software cue channel is sent exclusively to the headphone jack when engaging the on-screen cue buttons and the main output is from the back. Connect the main output to your amp/speakers and you’re ready to mix directly from PCDJ – no external mixer necessary.
From Numark’s Website:
“DJ|iO2 features high-quality, audio playback with 24-bit / 44.1 kHz resolution and an ultra-low-latency signal path designed for real-time, pro-quality mixing. Its RCA stereo outputs integrate with main sound systems, and an onboard 1/4” headphone output lets you cue and output your main mix simultaneously. DJ|iO2 also has a 1/4″ microphone for MCing, performing, and singing.”
The Numark DJ|IO 2 is supported on all the latest versions of Windows and OSX and is sold online and in stores for only $99 USD. You can learn more about the Numark DJ|IO 2 HERE
Focusrite Scarlett 2i4: External DJ Mixer And DVS Support
The Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 provides 2 sets of stereo RCA outputs, so you can easily configure DJ software to send deck A to outputs 1/2 and deck B to outputs 3/4 — and connect each of those subsequent outputs to two inputs on your physical DJ mixer.
This will allow you to use your physical DJ mixer just like you would with a set of turntables or CD decks. You plug your headphones directly into the DJ mixer and cue/monitor from there directly – as well as all hands on mixing.
From Focusrite’s Website:
“Scarlett 2i4 is a 2 in / 4 out USB audio interface featuring two award-winning Focusrite pre-amps and four high-quality audio outputs. Housed in a rugged, anodised aluminium unibody chassis, the Scarlett 2i4 is the perfect audio interface for musicians and digital DJs and can fully withstand the rigours of the road.”
The Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 is also supported on the latest Windows versions and OSX. It’s found for sale online and in stores for $199 USD. Learn more about the Scarlett 2i4 DJ audio interface HERE
Two currently supported and excellent DJ sound card (audio interface) options for DJ software, whether you mix with the virtual DJ mixer on-screen or with your own physical DJ mixer.
